Brother Shabbir I am sorry for not being so clear on what I was trying to say due to laziness I guess. I know the setting of slave free comes with giving compensation to the deceased family when a believing person is killed by mistake (4:92) and when a person deliberately breaks his oath (5:89) and when a person does zihar (58:3/4). What I was trying to say was that in all cases (which are actually doing good or justice to humanity) the alternate compensation is fasting. I don’t see how keeping one self hungry and thirsty for a part of day for certain days (like even two consecutive months) can compensate in any way the deceased family or any other human or the society as a whole. Hope I am clearer now.
