I have been reading and reading and thinking exactly where I missed anything. Nothing yet... things still need clarification. About saum specifically, brother Zubair not only has valid points for which we need clarity but there are many other issues. Looking at all the verses about saum alone one can see the inconsistencies. It’s not just about at onetime it’s taken as reward and other and at other as punishment it’s also about timings (“eat and drink till dawn..“, then how about the ayat which says eat and drink after salat, and what about fajar salat?) Plus the duration, as I pointed out earlier, the way words “eat and drink” have been used in other places, the meaning of Ramadan and shahar and last but not the least, the way alternate ways have been given. It does not make sense if one can’t keep hungry or thirsty for a certain time he should feed the poor or alternatively set a slave free. The point is alternate acts are all doing good for fellow human beings, how come that can be equivalent to making oneself suffer for some time? All it does is make them greedier for food and other things and less productive. This is in fact the real consequence of such fasting which can be observed all around the world and there is absolutely NO denying about it as we can clearly see this with our own eyes.
Just looking at the verses in isolation and in then in the light of true message of Quran as a whole with clear and open mind, one can clearly see it’s not about keeping oneself thirsty and hungry for whatever reasons. It could be to forget about ones own hunger and thirst BUT in the cause of other deed only. Still we need to be absolutely clear on this like salat.
I know some brothers here on forum still don’t want to understand but the fact that I have come to realize is that these so called five pillars of Islam are actually the BASE on which the criminals and conspirers build this NO.2 Islam and caused the Umma to deviate from the real message. We need to be very focused on this because of the consequences it had brought. So let’s not be impatient and be keep our eyes wide open and minds clear of all the preconceived ideas.
