Dear Forum members,
Noticed the delebrations on Dr Zaman essay.Question to my mind before I accept his explainations are:
1. If the meaning of the Quranic injunctions have been delebrately changed, which his article alludes to (here I mean Saum and Salat specifically), Is/Has there any note or publication to refute the claim? Is there any record( whether Arabic or nonarabic) that the real believers ever protested to this alteration? On the contrary there is too much literature to support it,and the only one against is by Dr Zaman only (kindlr provide me any other GOOD reasearched article from the last 1400 years).
2His arguments about the Arabic grammer to suit his interpretation is not rational if any body from the Arabic speaking world has not had similar ideas or interpretations (EVER IN HISTORY).His interprtations do not even match the LANE"S LEXICON which is definately the most authentic book on arabic language
3.The passages In the Quran are too specific about the proper way to fast including timing, duration DO'S and DONT's,who are exempted to fast and so on and so forth.Dr Zaman has a different interpretation for that as well.
I mean he is NOT THE FIRST INTELLIGENT RESEARCHER in the dumb muslim Ummah. Surely there are countless others but I dont see any publications which second his interpretations
So folk's for me to forsake SAUM somebody needs to come up with anwers to the above
