Thank you for the post. I believe it is penned by the same Salman Masood who contributes to the majority of reports on Pakistan for the NY Times. IMHO, it adds a weight of credibility to the article and SM has done a fine job in exposing the jingoistic agenda Zaid Hamid has been preaching and all this while masquerading behind a fascist veil in the name of Islam and Pakistan.
For some odd reason, I was a quite perplexed with some of your early posts , notably under the thread
"Marvelous Videos - Zaid Hamid At His Best".
Forgive me if this was a sarcastic/satirical attempt of sorts, which I obviously seem to have failed to comprehend. I would greatly appreciate if you could clarify this.
Along the same topic, what has further pained me is Zaid Hamid's pseudo-intellectual thought process towards a continually flawed interpretation of Iqbal. In his TV program he has often asserted that Iqbal, upon his return from Europe, had developed a demonic understanding of the West (the very approach a mullah adopts towards America without ever seeking a self rectification process ). I am loosely quoting Mr ZH in Urdu here "Iqbal ne europe se wapsi per apne kam mein Maghrabi tehzeeb or falsafay kee dhajian ukhairr kay rakh deen.)
Translation: Upon his return from Europe, Iqbal in his works, obliterated the make up of the western civilization and philosophy. On the contrary Iqbal sourced his inspiration for western philosophy from Nietzsche, Goethe and Bergson!
ZH did not end, he went on this Pan-Islamist fascist rant, which IMO, Iqbal has never even remotely alluded to.
